Partial Budgeting

Malcolm Garrett, a farmer in Montana, is assessing whether to custom spray his 1,000 acres of wheat. With a custom spray rate of $4 per acre and additional labor costs of $0.15 per acre, he needs to analyze the economic implications. Spraying is expected to increase yields by 2 bushels per acre, while potential losses from sprayer wheels amount to 0.5 bushel per acre. This analysis will help determine if the increase in returns outweighs the costs, providing insights on net income changes.
