Provide input to the SUSY EtMiss group by analyzing EtMiss in dijet events & applying SUSY selection cuts to examine efficiency in removing tails. Contribute to discussions on fake EtMiss in ttbar samples. Plan to evaluate different versions of EtMiss for trustability and resolution expectations.

EtMissperformance for early SUSY • Looking at https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/AtlasProtected/SusyEtMissTaskList I think we can with not so much further effort give quite some input to this group, given their connection to the EtMiss performance group doesn’t seem to be great yet • 1 task for all analyses is of course “Look at missing ET in appropriate samples (with jet/met group)” • There is also an early data plans document, which however doesn’t state anything for EtMiss that isn’t obvious: http://indico.cern.ch/getFile.py/access?contribId=0&resId=1&materialId=1&confId=49341 • Our studies of dijet events and the impact of the jet reconstruction on EtMiss is a study of tails, we should present this in one of the next SUSY EtMiss meetings • To my mind the thing that is really missing from our side is the application of SUSY selection cuts (ideally 0 and 1 lepton) to the dijet samples and see how efficient these cuts currently are in removing tails • This combined with an outline of our plans of evaluating EtMiss in first jet data will make a perfect contribution to this group • Of course, we would also know what to look at in terms of fake EtMiss in ttbar, but this I guess would need a bit more time D.Berge - CAT SUSY
Reminder: tails Example: J6 at 10 TeV Sublead jet eta • We will hopefully be in a position to know at which time the different versions of EtMiss are trustable, and what to expect from them in terms of resolution • Next meeting probably in 2-3 weeks Difference here due to applying calibration, and then adding cryostat and muon term D.Berge - CAT SUSY
