Theater Staging Basics • 9 areas on a stage: 1. Center 2.Down Stage Left 3.Stage Left 4. Up Stage Left 5.Down Stage Right 6.Stage Right 7.Up Stage Right 8.Down Stage Center 9.Up Stage Center
Apron • Area in front of the main curtain. • Used for bows • Also can be used for performances in between set changes • The width of each apron varies between theaters.
Wings • Off stage • Used during a rehearsal or performance • Sides of stage • Hidden by the “legs”
Legs • Smaller curtains on the sides of the stage • Used to hide backstage • Create Depth
Cyclorama • Back wall area of the stage • Curtain hides unit set pieces
