The organizing committee for this Symposium co-chaired by Professor Moon-Hee Sung and Prof. Chan-RyangPark at Kookmin University has done a wonderful job in recruiting excellent Japanese and Korean speakers at this Symposium. A special attention will be focused on the role of the peptides & protein sciences and biotechnology at this post-genomic and proteomic era. As you all are very well aware, the peptide science is providing a new paradigm in the 21st century for a unique interdisciplinary research opportunity including chemistry, biology, physics, engineering, and medicine. I sincerely hope that many peptide, protein scientists in both academic and industrial avenues will be able to participate in this Symposium and in the discussion and information exchange in any form including the poster presentation. According to our tradition, the Symposium will provide young scientists in the peptide and protein research fields with opportunities to present their results and I do recommend all of you to take part in this exciting Young Scientists Session and in doing so encourage the young peptide, protein scientists. Finally I welcome you all and hope to see you on November 21stin Seoul.
