  6. What is a Relationship? • Relationship(n)- The way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected, or the state of being connected.

  7. So how do you start a relationship?

  8. Talk

  9. Starting a Relationship • 1) You have to talk to them.

  10. Learn

  11. Starting a Relationship 1) You have to talk to them. 2) You have to learn more about them

  12. Give

  13. Starting a Relationship 1) You have to talk to them. 2) You have to learn more about them 3) You have to give them your resources.

  14. So What is the Most Important Relationship?

  15. Friends and Others? • Matthew 22:39 ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

  16. Friends and Others? • Matthew 22:39 “And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

  17. Family? • Matthew 15:4 “For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’”

  18. The Most Important Relationship Is The One With God

  19. God • Matthew 22:37-39 “37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ • Matthew 10:37 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.”

  20. God • John 14:6 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” • 1 John 9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

  21. God • Romans 5:14-23 “14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

  22. God • 19 I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. 20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[b] Christ Jesus our Lord.”

  23. Starting a Relationship • You have to talk to them. a) You have to talk to God if you want a relationship with Him. Pray to Him. 2) You have to learn more about them b) You have to learn more about God and know Him. Read the Bible to know more. 3) You have to give them your resources. c) Use the talents God gave you to show appreciation for all that he has done for you.

  24. So does that mean you don’t have to work on your other relationships?

  25. NOPE Still have to work at them

  26. 1 John 4:20-21 “20 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. “
