  2. Symbol Coding  Symbol Coding is one of the important topics from which you can expect 2-5 questions in the Preliminary examination of clerical as well as PO level exams. This topic is not so difficult but you have to carefully read all the conditions given to the problems so that you can solve all the problems easily. easily. Let us look at the following set of problems:

  3. Symbol Coding  Directions (1-5): In each of the questions given below, a group of letters followed by four combinations of digits/symbols numbered (a), (b), (c) and (d). Your job is to find out which of the combinations correctly represents the group of letters based on the following coding system and mark the answer accordingly. If none of the four combinations correctly mark the answer accordingly. If none of the four combinations correctly represents the group of letters, mark 5, i.e. ‘None of these’, as your answer.

Symbol Coding  Conditions: 1) If the first letter is a consonant and the last letter is a vowel, then their respective codes are to be interchanged. 2) If both the first and the last letters is a vowel, then both of them are to be coded as &. coded as &. 3) If both the first and the last letters are Consonant and in between if there are two or more vowels, then all those vowels are to be coded as 0. 4) If the first letter is a vowel and the last letter is a consonant, both of them are to be coded as the code for the consonant.
