  • The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was dedicated on November 13, 1982
  • A 21-year-old undergraduate at Yale University, Maya Ying, Lin, born in Athens, Ohio in 1959, designed the memorial
  • The memorial is constructed from two 75-meter-long black granite walls. The granite came from Bangalore, India.
  • The names of 58,253 Americans killed or missing in action in the Vietnam War are engraved on the Wall. Reading one name every 2 seconds nonstop would take approximately 32 hours.
