  2. Born on February 29th 1736 and died on September 8th 1784. Mother Ann Lee was a religious leader. She was a leader of the United Society of Believers in Christ's second appearing. Also known as Shakers. Mother Ann Lee “Put your hands to work and your hearts to God” ~ Ann Lee

  3. She joined the Shakers at the age of 22. Shakers were given their name because of the dancing and “shaking” they did while worshiping. Ann Lee brought “Shakers” from England to the American colonies. She thought celibacy was the only way people could go move further in their journey on earth. She was married and her marriage was said to be unhappy. Mother Ann Lee

  4. Imprisoned in 1780 for treason. Released quickly and continued to tour New England between 1781-1783 “ You can not kill the devil with a sword” ~ Ann Lee Mother Ann Lee
