  1. Kofa AVID Counselors All of the KHS counselors serve as support counselors for the AVID curriculum. We can be reached via phone or email and are happy to assist in anyway possible.

  2. What is AVID: • AVID is designed to increase school wide learning and performance. The mission of AVID is to assist all students, especially those who are typically least served, to succeed in a rigorous curriculum and to enroll in a four-year university. AVID wants to promote these goals for all students, both now and in the future.

  3. AVID Objectives: • To provide students with academic instruction and other support in preparation for eligibility to enter a four year college or university. • To improve students' study skills and organizational skills • To increase students level of career awareness.

  4. The Counselor Should: • Be an AVID advocate. • Act as a facilitator for teachers, parents and students as needed. • Support the AVID coordinator. • Counsel students regarding their future. • Evaluate the AVID program from the counseling point of view.

  5. Counseling Goals: • Understand the mission of AVID. • Identify and recruit potential AVID students. • Facilitate access for AVID students in Honors/AP classes. • Determine which strategies enhance students success.

  6. University Requirements: • English 4 credits • Math 4 credits • Science 3 credits • World History 1 cr. • US History 1 cr. • Govt/Econ. 1 cr. • Fine Arts 1 cr. • Foreign Lang 2 cr. • 6 elective credits • Different Levels • Lab sciences only • Same Language
