  4. Updates

  5. V4 Template Upgrades • Agency Website Consolidations - 3 • Remaining Sites to be Upgraded - 15 • PMG will contact System Administrators to begin the process • Will include upgrade to Google Search • Home Page Redesign is not in scope • There is a queue for full redesigns. Contact PMG to be added to the queue.

  6. Google Search Appliance • Google Search Appliance (GSA) has been crawling all sites since July 2011 • Sites using GSA – 100 • Includes DSF Intranet Sites

  7. Training Procedures • PMG is now performing basic DSF training • We are scheduling one class a month at DAS/BEST • The classes are geared for new users or those that need a refresher • New users will be given priority for the classes. Returning users will be placed on a wait list and notified 1 week prior to the class if there is availability. • If you have Content Admins who need this training, please submit a work request

  8. Training Procedures • If you or your staff need advanced training (beyond the class offered), submit a Work Request, and we will schedule a one-on-one session • Please note that our availability for these advanced training sessions may be limited due to other projects and deadlines

  9. Website Translatation • Working with OPM IT Policy and Legal departments to review options for the use of online translation services including Google

  10. New Agency/Office Page • Cleaner format – much easier to read • Includes social media sites by agency • Refer to Social Media Policy for notification procedures • Consolidated agencies still listed with standard consolidation message • www.ct.gov/agencylist

  11. Vendor Re-Designs • If you have a vendor doing anything on a portal website, they must follow the template standards and the State’s Accessibility Policy • We highly recommend you consult with PMG before the vendor begins the project

  12. New Code on Sites • Introducing new code into website • DO NOT Introduce new code into Production site • Code should be put on a Test site first • If you do not have a demo or training site for testing, contact PMG • Trust your source • Malicious viruses can be introduced into your website and State network • DSF may not support all code • PMG support of non-standard code is limited. We will assist in testing new code as time permits.

  13. Flash Security Issues • Adobe's Flash Player is often the target of hackers as a route to exploit applications and desktops • Ensure Flash is automatically patched when new versions are released

  14. Adobe Flash Security Fixes in 2012 • Critical flash security update for hacker vulnerabilityMarch 2012Adobe has released a security update for Adobe Flash. The update fixes two problems – the first is a memory corruption vulnerability in Matrix3D that could lead to unauthorized code execution. The second vulnerability patched is an integer error that can lead to information disclosure. • Adobe releases flash security patch for critical vulnerability - February 2012Adobe's latest flash security patch fixes a zero-day cross-site scripting flaw which could be used to take actions on a user's behalf if the user visits a malicious website or clicks on a malicious link delivered in an email message. This flash security vulnerability (CVE-2012-0767) is being exploited in the wild in active targeted attacks.

  15. Reminders

  16. iStock Photo Credit Limits • DAS/BEST currently purchases a limited number of credits from iStockPhoto per year • Used to provide images for all Agency websites • To be fair, we must limit how many credits we can allot to each Agency • 3 credits per image maximum • 3 images per Agency maximum • Please only request images if you need them • Do not take them “for a rainy day” • Agencies may purchase credits on their own

  17. Internet Explorer Issues • IE 8 has issues with tables and the code view in the Editor • Vendor has provided an Editor fix for IE 7 & IE 9 • IE 9 requires Windows 7 or Vista Operating System • When using Insert File, the Relative Reference Link in the WebFile Manager produces a 404 (File Not Found) error on IE 9 • We are working with Cimbrian to find cause • If you experience any of these issues, please submit a problem ticket

  18. JavaScript Issues • Your WebFile Manager appears blank • Cause: Incorrect Version of JavaScript • Currently, any version higher than Java 6 Update 21 will cause this issue • We continue to test each new version of Java as they are released • If you experience this issue, please submit a problem ticket

  20. Special Requests • New Ideas are Great! • PMG wants to help you implement these ideas on your sites • Recently, we have had several requests to implement new ideas (designs, functionalities, etc.) • We spend time, energy, and resources learning new technologies and methodologies • Existing and planned work must be pushed back to accommodate this process

  21. Special Requests • To help streamline the process and make maximum use of resources, please vet these new ideas before bringing them to PMG • Check with stakeholders • Make sure Agency Management is on board with the idea and/or design • Create rough mockups and approve them • Understand that working models will not be available for every stage of the process • If the number of these requests continues to grow, PMG may have to limit Iterations and/or Working Model versions
