  3. Lesson Plan for 12th Grade Level Readers • When calculated there was four and a half sentences and about one hundred and fifty five words. When looking at the Fry’s Reading Graph it showed twelve grade and around seventeen years old. 7. During Reading • During Reading: The objective for the during reading activity is to have the students read the chapter to learn about nutrition, and how to start a healthy diet plan. In groups of three they will then use their survey and results to apply what they learned in the text to their survey.

  8. Results • Even the Caesar Salad isn’t good for you, here are their calories: • French Fries: 500 calories in a large portion, 380 calories in a medium portion, and 230 calories in a small portion • Milkshake: In a small one-cup milkshake there are about 317 calories. • Small Caesar salad: 280 calories • Parfait: 160 calories.

  9. After Reading • After reading: The after reading activity is to make a one week diet plan that they want to follow this. This objective of the chart is to give the students their own opportunity to apply what they learned about nutrition and make their own diet plan. Having them make their own plan will help them stick to it because they will be picking foods they still enjoy and setting reachable goals.

  10. Daily Food Log! • What I have eaten this week! Substitute! • *Example: • Monday Monday • 1. Bagel with cream cheese 1. Wheat bagel with butter • 2. Cheese Burger and fries 2. Tuna salad on wheat • 3. Kit Kat Bar 3. Bag of pretzels • 4. Cobb Salad with Blue cheese 4. House salad • *Know your turn! Fill in what you have eaten on the right hand side and then on the left hand side write what you would like to substitute for that. • Monday Monday • 1. • 2. • 3. • 4.

  11. Technology/Extended the Meaning: • Students will use the dietary analaysis format online to apply their health food plan and keep track of what they eat. The objective of this is to put their diet plan into their own hands. They wont have anyone telling them what they can or can’t eat.
