  1. Engineering Concepts in Technology by Andrew G. Bell abell118@ivytech.edu (260) 481-2288 Overview Global Perspective

  2. Engineering Concepts in Technology The world has shrunk and we are now more globally connected to other counties and cultures. Global Perspective Why bother?

  3. Engineering Concepts in Technology Other cultures and countries share the same air and water that we use in the United States. But we live in the good ole USA

  4. Engineering Concepts in Technology Engineering technology can be used to help improve the quality of life of other people.. Cool, I love technology

  5. Engineering Concepts in Technology They have a need for energy, food, clean water, medicine and other essentials to enjoy life. This is true …

  6. Engineering Concepts in Technology Plus, we could learn how other cultures and peoples solve engineering problems. I understand now. We need to work together because we are part of a “global society”

  7. Engineering Concepts in Technology ENGT 120 COR updates ENGT 120, ENGINEERING CONCEPTS IN TECHNOLOGY CATALOG DESCRIPTION: This entry-level course will develop a student’s perspective and enhance their skills in living and working in a technological society. The course explores the design process, problem solving, technical communication, ethics, the impact of technology, and technology grand challenges facing society. MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to: Implement the design process in context. Identify technology’s impact on society. Illustrate the technologist’s value and responsibility in society. Introduce the infrastructure of computer networks. Define various career pathways in engineering technology. Demonstrate understanding and application of basic organizational and management concepts. Form teams and work in collaboration to solve engineering technology problems using both face-to-face and virtual communication. Prepare a laboratory report using proper format and data presentation techniques. Understand how to set up a laboratory experiment, gather and analyze data, and present the results in a proper format.  Utilize computer graphics software to analyze and explain engineering problems. Utilize spreadsheets for engineering calculations, data analysis, and data presentation.  Perform dimensional analysis on complex engineering equations. 8. Engineering Concepts in Technology To enhance our Engineering Technology program ENGT 120 has been updated to include global perspective content as part of the Global Learning Across Indiana (GLAI) initiative. Three new modules have been developed: 1.) Temperature 2.) Energy 3.) Numbers These modules include lecture and lab material and can be used to introduce global perspectives into the program.
