  2. overview Trident Safety Group have lead the way in transport regulatory training since 1990. We are pleased to announce the first International seminar held in Ireland on the complex regulations governing maritime dangerous goods transport. Transporting dangerous goods by sea from Ireland in the recent past has been fraught by inconsistency, differing interpretation of the rules and a lack of training which has resulted in delays, fines and safety concerns. January 2012., on a voluntary basis will be discussed outlining the implications for companies involved in shipping dangerous goods. Trident Safety Group seminar Part 7, of the IMDG Code, has been totally revised and we will be explaining the changes and give people advance warning of what is probably the largest revision since the reformatting of the Code back in 2000.

Keith Bradley • Keith is a professional chemist and a qualified • DGSAfor Road and Inland Waterways • Keith’s vast experience working in a variety of • roles in the chemical industry led to the • appointment as Hazardous Cargo Advisor for the • Maritime and Coastguard Agency. • His MCA post also has a counter pollution element • when the incident or issue involves hazardous • noxious substances (HNS). • In addition Keith currently represents the UK at • theInternational Maritime Organisation on the • IMDG Code and other containerised cargo issues • and is a member of the UK delegation to the UN • subcommittee of experts on the transport of • dangerous goods. Sjoerd Tunstra • Sjoerd Tunstra is a Dangerous Goods Inspector for the Inspectorate for Transport, Public Works and Water Management in the Netherlands, whom monitor the compliance of loading, unloading an transportation of dangerous goods (ADR/IMDG). • The Inspectorate works closely with the customs department, municipal harbour services, the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment, the national Police Agency (KLPD), the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management, and the Health and Safety Inspectorate. The Netherlands • Sjoerd currently works in all the Dutch ports but principally in the Port of Rotterdam. Sjoerd has been involved in the inspection of dangerous goods cargo units over the last number of years and has experienced first hand the failures by shippers and how these failures led to criminal prosecutions for Irish shippers.

  8. Philippe Holthoff Belgium Philippe is a professional Hazmat inspector working for the Belgian Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport, DG Maritime Transport. Philippe’s role as a Hazmat Inspector is to inspect IMDG related Cargo Transport Units and to monitor ships’ regulatory controls including segregation, stowage and documentation. Philippe is also a Marpol surveyor, overseeing mandatory Annex II prewashes on chemical tankers. Based in Antwerp, Philippe is a regular guest lecturer for APEC (Antwerp/Flanders Port Training Centre) and the Karel de Grote University College. In his spare time, Philippe writes for the Swedish publishing house ShipPax Information, publisher of , amongst others, the monthly trade magazine Cruise & Ferry Information.

Neil Forde Ireland • Neil is a Master Mariner, Lead Auditor ISM, • Oil Spill Response IMO level 2 • Neil has Spent 32 years at sea , 24 years as • ships master mainly on container vessels • where he gained a very practical insight into • the effect of the IMDG code on board ships. • Neil joined the Marine survey office in • 2002  with specific responsibility for IMDG • Competent Authority requirements , marine • incident investigation , port state control and , • Aquaculture development (navigational impact)
