Setting up FCP -- System Setting • Go to Final Cut Express HD menu -- System Setting • Go to Scratch Disks Tab • Check all boxes and Set disk to “LaCie Disk Funal Cut Pro Documents Folder” • Set “minimum allowable free space” to 56275 MB (never fill drive over 75%)
Setting up FCP -- System Setting 2 • Go to Final Cut Express HD menu -- System Setting • Go to Search Folders Tab • Set disk to “LaCie Disk Funal Cut Pro Documents Folder”
Setting up FCP -- System Setting 3 • Go to Final Cut Express HD menu -- System Setting • Go to Memory and Cache Tab • Set Application RAM to 90% • If using at LOT of stills, bump Still Cache to 20%
Setting up FCP -- User Preferences • Go to Final Cut Express HD menu -- User Preferences -- General tab • Change levels of undo to 25 • Keep audio quality to low (only effects playback, not final audio) • Check limit real-time video and set to 25 MB/s • Uncheck “Open last project on application launch”
Setting up FCP -- User Preferences 2 • Go to Final Cut Express HD menu -- User Preferences --General Tab • Under autosave vault -- Change save copy to ever 15 min., keep at most 15 copies., a maximum of 10. • Under editing TAB change Still frame duration to 00:00:05;00. Change pre-roll to 00:00:02:00
Starting with the video: Overwrite: Video is cut into timeline at in point and covers up anything under it. (TRT stays the same). Insert: Video is cut into timeline at in point and pushes everything else down the timeline. (TRT gets longer).
