The new EU system: Two pillars (Regulation 1592/2002) The Agency Regulations at European level Products (type) and Organisations certification Standardisation The National authorities Implementation of European rules at national level Individual airworthiness certificates Approvalsof national organisations + personnel

  4. 2. Our remit: New tasks proposed by the European Commission • Operations, • Flight Crew Licensing, • Certification of non-EU operators (“EU Part 129”) …by end of 2007/2008 • Airports, ATM from 2010

  5. New tasks … • Standardization Regulation 2006: Reinforced Inspections in EU Member States • JAA transfer Jan’ 2007, incl. transfer of SAFA database

  6. … and EU «black listing» • Regulation “on the information of air transport passengers on the identity of the operating carrier and on communication of safety information by Member States” • Responsibility of the Commission • Agency may inform/advise the Commission • Long-term: Airports, ATM
