  1. July, 7 of 2014 Wendy, Lilian, Jérôme, Marie-Caroline, Marianne The 4th of July Independence Day in the US, Taiwan and France

  2. In Taipei, Taiwan In Pana, Illinois The fireworks When you think about the 4th of July, you think fireworks. A lot of space exists in the US to see fireworks, they are beautiful but kind of the same. It was quite long, one firework at a time. In Taiwan, fireworks on the 10th of October, are shorter but very different and diverse. The fireworks in France, on July the 14th, are similar but people just come to see and go home (in Taiwan too). The 4th of July in the US is a patriotic holiday. People sing the American anthem, they eat and party. In Lyon, France

  3. The PARADE Parade on the US show a number of different things. Parades have political parties and also show civic pride. Firemen, farmers, veterans, and children who throw candy make up the majority of the parade. This parade is slow and respectful. It’s different than parades in both Taiwan and France. Taiwan’s parade showcase their army and are serious and strict near the presidential palace in the capital city. No cars, but tanks on the road. France’s parade is similar to Taiwan. It’s on the Champs Elysées near the Arch of Triumph. In Ramsey, Illinois In Paris, France In Taipei, Taiwan

  4. The FOOD Food is really sweet and fat in the US. Sodas and deserts complete the meal. In the US, there are many cookouts, but in Taiwan, family reunions only. Vegetables and rice are the main meal in Taiwan. French people don’t have any special meal nor family reunions on that day. Cupcakes American breakfast Cookout with a lot of pork, sausages S’mores Pizza

  5. AMERICAN HOST FAMILIES Americans were really friendly and open-minded. They share their house for one day and two nights. Students and families all spend time together, they have a wonderful life experience. They kept us busy. Students discovered a lot about American culture in such an important day.
