  1. Step by step instructions for using The Insurance Barn’s website to shop and apply for health insurance from CIGNA. Health Insurance Shopping

  2. The first step is to go to our web site. In your internet browser enter our address www.theinsurancebarn.com Once you are on our web site click on the state where you live. This slide show assumes the applicant lives in Texas. http://www.theinsurancebarn.com/

  3. On this page you will scroll down to the box for Cigna. The Cignabox is located about half way down the page on the right side. Click on the box for Cignaand a new window should open in your browser. On this page you may shop and apply for health insurance directly with Cigna. http://www.theinsurancebarn.com/Texas.html

  4. Before you may submit an application you will need to obtain the anticipated premium rates for all the plans Cigna offers. Enter the information requested on this page and click on the blue button at the bottom labeled, “Submit” HINT: The blue submit button will not appear until after you have elected the coverage type.

  5. Your computer will think for a moment and then give you a screen with a summary of all the plans available. On the far left is the name of each of the plans that Cigna offers. If you click on the name a new window will open with more details about the plan.

  6. This page will give you a detailed summary of benefits, limitations and exclusions for the plan in which you are interested.

  7. After you have selected which plan best meets your needs you will see the words, “Apply Now” on the far right of the summaries. Click on the link for the plan you want to apply for.

  8. If this is your first time at the Cigna web site you will need to register before the site will allow you to submit your application. To register select the state in which you live and click the blue button labeled, “Register.”

  9. If you clicked the button to compare plans you were brought to a page that looks like this. Once you have found the plan that best meets your needs you may click on the orange button labeled, “Apply Now.”

  10. If you clicked on the “Register” button you were taken to this page. Here you will be asked to set up a Username and Password along with basic information about yourself. The biggest thing to remember is to write down the Username and Password you use. If you have any problems with your application or wish to check its underwriting status in the future you will need it. Once you have entered in all the information requested click the button at the bottom labeled, “Register.” HINT: The computer will not allow you to proceed until after you have read and agreed to the terms and conditions at the bottom of the page.
