  1. Attorney Josh Denzler 1/21/09 3rd Hour CTF

  2. Introduction BANG! BANG! BANG! Went the judge’s gavel. “Order in the court!” he yelled. The defendant is hereby pronounced guilty as charged. A small murmur goes through the crowd and the D.A. is ecstatic. This is my dream to a lawyer, specifically a prosecutor. I became interested in this field by realizing I want nothing more than to see criminals put away, and this job is a safe. Well-paid way to do so. For this presentation, I researched the nature of work, working conditions, education, job outlook, earnings, and related occupations. If everything works out, I will have made a decision on this matter.

  3. Nature of Work • Attorneys: • Defend clients • Gather evidence • Present evidence in court • Specialize in either bankruptcy, probate, international, elder, or environmental law • Consult with clients or potential witnesses

  4. Working Conditions • This job is: • Mental (deciphering of evidence) • Indoors (courtroom or law firm) • Mainly work at a desk working on case • Working with people (clients) • 40-50 hours a week

  5. Job Outlook • Average employment growth rate • Competitive • Openings scattered • Hope to work in Metro Detroit

  6. Education • To become an attorney you need: • In High School • Business • Public speaking • Law • Government • In College • Around 7 years • Law school • Pass bar exam • Potential College Choice: • Harvard Law School

  7. Earnings • Median annual wage: • $110,590 • Lifestyle Goals: • A Jaguar • House on the lake • Boat • ATV’s • Second home in the Upper Peninsula • RV • Jet skis • First Purchase: • Jaguar

  8. Related Occupation Paralegal • Working Conditions: • Indoor • Mental • Work with people and data • Tasks: • Do what is assigned by lawyer • Education: • Associate’s in Paralegal Studies • Earnings: • $46,000/year • Outlook: • Faster than average growth rate • Chose because: • It is very similar to a lawyer

  9. Summary After reviewing this career, I still would like to do it. Attorneys make pretty good money. The working conditions are very acceptable. I just wish the hours were slightly smaller. This provided me with a positive learning experience that taught me a great deal about attorneys and the lifestyle they live. This career is a good way to live. It allows me to debate and potentially take down an opponent. It is like fighting using your words, and can help the innocent, it is truly a great thing.
