  3. What is Youth2 • Review grant proposals directed towards helping youth • Distribute funds • Educate the community about volunteer actions and opportunities Youth2 is an advisory council comprised of adult and youth members who: www.youthsquared.org

  4. Our Mission is.. • To engage young people: • To think about issues that they care about • To create and design their own volunteer, social awareness, or fundraising projects • To help youth locally or globally www.youthsquared.org

What is a grant? • A grant is a gift of money awarded to an individual who wishes to turn a community service idea into a reality. • Youth2 has given out 27 $500.00 grants to date to youth applicants ages 22 and younger who reside in Saratoga county. • The grants can be written to help youth ANYWHERE in the world www.youthsquared.org

Previous Grants • Books for a school in Sierra Leone • Malaria Prevention • Help for orphans in Tanzania • Tsunami Relief • Help for children with rare medical disorders • Providing necessities such as hygiene products and bicycles • Scholarships for music and education • Building playgrounds, camp facilities, schools, and pediatric wings • Projects to increase self esteem through theatre and instrument making • Raising social awareness about bullying, runaways, and gender issues www.youthsquared.org

  8. The Application Process • Youth can download the easy to complete grant application that is located on our website - www.youthsquared.org • The application has been completed by children as young as 8 years old. www.youthsquared.org

  9. How do the kids get involved? • A young leader can design a project and apply for funding • Youth2 provides grants up to $500.00 and can also match fundraising efforts up to $500.00 www.youthsquared.org

What is so unique about Youth2 • Youth2 provides both its applicants as well as its youth advisory council members with opportunities to gain skills in: • Youth philanthropic volunteer/community giving • Fundraising • Collecting community resource information • Proposal development • Grant application and review • Program assessment and evaluation • Website construction/powerpoint • Brochure making www.youthsquared.org

  12. To help get youth connected with community service, Youth2 has: • Hosted three “Community Giving Fairs” – these fairs have taught children about the value of giving back to both the local and global community www.youthsquared.org

  13. The Book of Good Deeds • Created the “Book of Good Deeds”-This booklet lists existing human service agencies and organizations, arts, and cultural centers and schools- facilitated community service clubs in which youth can get involved. www.youthsqaured.org

  14. Our Latest Accomplishment: The Community Service Incentive Award was just recently given to two deserving high school students who showed outstanding excellence in their achievements of community service in and around the Saratoga Springs county.
