How to prepare for UGC NET exam University Grant Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is the examination which is taken place to select worth candidates for the posts of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship. This was introduced by the Indian Union government in accordance to the UGC Act 1956 with guidance of Ministry of Human Resource Development. It has become a mandatory step for students who desire to pursue higher order research in University Departments or National Laboratories in various filed of science and technology. The Eligibility criteria for this examination are: •Candidates should be a resident of India •They should have acquired an M.Sc or equivalent degree with 55% marks for general category where as 50% for ST/SC category. Ph.D degree obtained candidates should have passed master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991. •Age limit is from 19 to 28 year old, which is also relaxed for SC/ST or Physically Challenged people. Most of the student who is eager to pursue Ph. D degree should definitely apply for this as it gives a wonderful opportunity to students to work as Junior Research Fellow for about two year and then they will be eligible for SRF NET which will increase the pay scale too. Syllabus The UGC NET exam is divided in two sessions (Paper 1 & Paper 2) where Paper 1 contains general aptitude questions, teaching and research aptitude comprised with 50 objective type questions. Paper 2 will have questions related to any one subject out of 84 specialized subjects which is selected by the candidate. Paper 1 Topics: Communication, Teaching Aptitude, Research aptitude, reading comprehension, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Mathematic Reasoning, Science and Environment, Higher Education System.
