  2. D E P E N D E N C E Independent Not influenced or controlled by others in matters of conduct, etc.; thinking or acting for oneself Not subject to another’s authority or jurisdiction; autonomous; free Not influenced by the thought or action of others

  3. D E P E N D E N C E Dependent Relying on someone or something else for aid, support, etc. Conditioned or determined by something else; contingent Subordinate; subject Not used in isolation; used only in connection with other forms

  4. D E P E N D E N C E • Destination Dependence • Destination • The place to which a person or thing travels or is sent. • The purpose for which something is destined.

  5. D E P E N D E N C E Destination Dependence Depends On What You Plant Today’s seed is tomorrow’s fruit. Galatians 6:7-10 “Sow a thought and reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

  6. D E P E N D E N C E Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.  Galatians 6:7-10

  7. D E P E N D E N C E Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6:7-10

  8. D E P E N D E N C E • Destination Dependence • Depends On What You Follow • The People • Hebrews 13:7 • Psalm 1 Proverbs 13:20 • The Word • James 1:21-25 1 John 2:15-17 • The Holy Spirit • Galatians 5:16-25 • Romans 8:1-14

  9. D E P E N D E N C E Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Hebrews 13:7

  10. D E P E N D E N C E 1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2But his delight is in the law of theLord, and on his law he meditates day and night. Psalm 1

  11. D E P E N D E N C E 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in seasonand whose leaf does not wither.Whatever he does prospers. 4Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Psalm 1

  12. D E P E N D E N C E 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. Psalm 1

  13. D E P E N D E N C E He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm. Proverbs 13:20

  14. D E P E N D E N C E Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:21-25

  15. D E P E N D E N C E Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.   James 1:21-25

  16. D E P E N D E N C E But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. James 1:21-25

  17. D E P E N D E N C E Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world–the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does–comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:15-17

  18. D E P E N D E N C E The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:15-17

  19. D E P E N D E N C E So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want Galatians 5:16-25

  20. D E P E N D E N C E But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, and envy; Galatians 5:16-25

  21. D E P E N D E N C E drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.  Galatians 5:16-25

  22. D E P E N D E N C E Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:16-25

  23. D E P E N D E N C E Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature,  Romans 8:1-14

  24. D E P E N D E N C E Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;  Romans 8:1-14

  25. D E P E N D E N C E he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. Romans 8:1-14

  26. D E P E N D E N C E Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it.For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Romans 8:1-14
