  2. What is DDDI? • DDDI facilitates rapid and methodical communciation between diagnostic experts and people with a need for accurate diagnosis of agricultural problems. • DDDI is a web based system that allows images along with textual information to be submitted by users.

  3. Benefits of DDDI • “Real time” view of problems • Quicker diagnoses • Available from any computer with web access • Organized and searchable archive of submitted samples for later retrieval and for educational use

  4. Benefits of DDDI • Submitters learn to recognize many problems through the process • Client information is stored in the system for easier entry and retrieval • Diagnosis and recommendations are presented in a form useful for reporting to clients

  6. DDDI Components • Submitters with web access and DDDI imaging equipment • System specific forms for transfer of images and information • Diagnosticians with specific expertise • E- mail for rapid delivery of notification and diagnosis • Imaging Station to capture images

  7. The Imaging Station

  8. How does it work? • A user is presented with an issue • The user captures appropriate images using camera or microscope • User supplies appropriate information using the DDDI website.

  9. How does it work? • Once information has been submitted, the DDDI system automatically selects the appropriate diagnostician, who is alerted by e-mail that a sample is waiting. • Diagnostician evaluates that sample and provides diagnosis. An e-mail is sent to the user with sample diagnosis and comments.

  12. To set up account…….. • Visit www.dddi.org/uga, click on request an account and fill out information.

  14. Several options are available for finding samples that have been submitted

  15. A “Freetext” search allows using any combination of characters as a keyword for searching.

  16. Digital samples submitted by the current user can be viewed by the date of submission.

  17. A list of physical samples submitted only from the user’s county can be viewed

  18. from which individual samples can be selected

  19. to view sample details and to obtain a PDF version of the final report.

  20. The current user can choose to list any recently-submitted samples You can look at all samples, or limit it to a specific discipline.

  21. Selecting a digital sample from the list allows viewing images and information, as well as a diagnosis if it has been evaluated.

  22. As people move or addresses etc. change, a user can easily modify their account information

  23. Help and support of various sorts is available in the system

  24. To submit a sample choose on of the discipline forms

  25. Information required for each discipline form is listed in red. For each discipline form, diagnosticians have required a specific minimum amount of information to be included with submitted digital images. Any additional requested information increases their ability to accurately evaluate ag problems.

  27. but it may be inserted automatically from a list of existing clients,

  28. and used in the current submission form.

  30. Uploading Images All sample forms require that at least one image be included. Selecting that image is accomplished as indicated in the following slides. Only jpeg images can be uploaded into the system.

  31. At the bottom of each form are fields for inserting images. All images must be accompanied by a description and SHOULD BE PREVIEWED BEFORE THE FORM IS SUBMITTED. CoastalPlainPines.jpg Pine Plantation

  32. If a sample form is submitted without all required fields completed, an error message will be displayed.

  33. When a sample form has successfully completed the submission process, a “success” page will appear, with the sample number.

  34. When a sample diagnosis/identification is submitted by a diagnostician, one e-mail with the diagnosis/identification is automatically sent to the e-mail address of the original submitter and another to the e-mail address of the county from which the sample was submitted. The submission form with diagnosis, recommendation and comments is also archived for later review.
