Purpose of BCMA Awareness Activity for Area Teams • This awareness activity provides an overview of the Meaningful Use Stage 2 Measure and the BCMA Health Information Technology (HIT) solution for electronic Medication Administration Records (eMAR) • Orientation is towards each Area’s BCMA Cross-disciplinary Team to include: (a) Nurse Consultant, (b) Pharmacy Consultant, (c) Clinical Applications Coordinator, (d) Meaningful Use Coordinator, (e) Information Technology Professional, and (f) Quality/Risk Manager Barcode Medication Administration

Objectives (1 of 2) • Examine the anticipated Stage 2 Meaningful Use Measures for Medications and the electronic medication administration record • Summarize BCMA literature as it applies to small rural hospitals • Provide an overview of hospitals within the Indian Health Care System • Review the EHR Deployment Plan and Dashboard for Eligible Hospital (EH) and Critical Access Hospital (CAH) BCMA Readiness • Critique the IHS Office of Information Technology BCMA Project Management Plan • Outline the IHS-VA Technology Sharing Agreement Barcode Medication Administration
