Comprehensive Inventory Estimation Tools for Forest Resources
This document details the EVALIDator tool by Liz LaPoint, aimed at estimating various forest attributes such as area, number of stems, biomass, carbon, and more. It provides insights into data comparisons between all available inventories and the most recent ones, allowing users to filter data based on parameters like ownership, stand age, and forest type. The guide emphasizes using specific filters to analyze dominant or co-dominant tree populations, ensuring tailored forest management and assessment strategies for sustainable resource utilization.

Estimate Types:Area, Number of Stems, Volume, Biomass, Carbon, Net Growth, Mortality, Removals, Down Woody Material, Area Change
129 types of attributes • All available inventories vs most recent inventories • Population estimate vs ratio estimate (volume/acre etc)
All available vsMost Recent • Most recent • All available
Context sensitive – depends on estimate you chose. Temporal basis - current, previous, accounting + permutations!
Filters? Filter by radio button – plot or condition variables in the database Counties Ownership – group or specific class or national forest Stand Age Slope Forest type – group and specific Stand Origin Site Class Physiographic Class
Tree filters • Species – group or specific • Diameters Tree filters will not be used for area, numbers of seedlings, and those carbon component estimates that are not based on tree information.
Ex: you want to filter your table to only include trees that are dominant or co-dominant • Database Variable: CCLCD – crown class code • Values: 2=dominant, 3=codominant
Maine – volume all live trees on forest land, filtered for dominant and codominant trees
