  4. We need to find a way to: • Dramatically reduce the volume of waste coming to the Repository for disposal • Continue to support the NDA with its primary mission of decommissioning

  5. 3 Pronged Strategy • Develop a National Strategy for LLW management and get national buy-in to both the strategy and its implementation. • Begin to work with the supply chain to develop the necessary services to implement the national strategy • Establish robust contracts with all our consignors which will provide access to all the services.

  6. Key Implementation Milestones • Pre-existing services • Disposal of LLW at the repository • Disposal containers • Compaction of waste through the WAMAC facility • New contracts with each consignor April 2010 • The National LLW Strategy approved by Government August, 2010 Framework established for Metal Treatment August 2010 Framework established for Combustible Waste October 2010 VLLW Service available April, 2012 Transport & Logistic service available April 2012 Characterisation Service available April 2012
