  2. The National 5 Exam • In the second part of your exam for National 5 you have to be prepared to answer questions on a Scottish text. • We will study one writer from a list provided by the SQA. • There are 12 authors – 4 novelists, 4 dramatists and 4 poets. • We will be studying poetry.

  3. Key Points • In the exam you will be given a whole text or part of a text (poem) from the set writers. • You will be expected to: - answer questions on the text you have studied • and - be able to relate the ideas and the language of that text to at least one other of the texts you have studied. • This part of the paper is worth 20 marks • 12 for questions on the printed text • And 8 marks for a comparison with one of the other texts. • We will study 6 poems.
