  14. “This I Believe”: Common Errors • Examples • Stay away from general examples • Stronger essays use personal and specific examples • Sometimes just one strong example is better than a lot of general ones • Your example should be connected to your philosophy and prove it

  15. “This I Believe”: Common Errors • Spelling • Try reading your essay BACKWARDS to catch spelling errors (spell check doesn't catch everything!) • Word choice • NOOOOO “thing” • NOOOOO “you”
