  2. Investment in Metrolink • £1.5 billion investment between 2009 and 2016 • 10 extensions to the network • New and improved stops • New trams • New ticket machines • Improved passenger information • Trebles the size of the current network • Makes Metrolink largest tram network in UK

The current Metrolink network • Nearly 20 million passengers every year • Bury and Altrincham lines opened in 1992 • Eccles line opened in 2000 • Media City line opened in 2010 • South Manchester line to Chorlton opened Summer 2011 • Oldham and Rochdale line to Derker and Shaw and Crompton opened in December 2012 • East Manchester line to Droylsden February 2013 • South Manchester line to East Didsbury May 2013

Park and Ride • TfGM is expanding the Metrolink Park and Ride facilities across the existing and future network • The latest Park and Ride facility open at the East Didsbury stop on the East Didsbury Line, offering 300 free spaces to Metrolink passengers • TfGM is proposing to upgrade the Park and Ride facilities at Radcliffe and Whitefield on the Bury Line

Provides a higher quality, more frequent service with better links across Manchester Improved transport integration by providing Metrolink stops in Oldham , Rochdale and Ashton town Centres. Improvement in labour market connectivity and economic development-help create jobs. Ticket Machines Passenger Service Representatives (PSR’s)

Smart Ticketing – get me there • Variety – existing TfGM cards, English National Concessionary Travel card, accepts contactless bank cards on Metrolink and smart phones in the future…future devices • More convenient public transport system for passengers • Faster payment times – decrease journey times • Better understanding of public transport journeys • Anticipated increase in patronage • TfGM scheme: • Over 50 transport operators across bus, rail and tram • Initial rollout on Metrolink in 2014 • Bus passengers in 2015
