Staff and funding Staff numbers at January 2013 86 staff in total 19 nationalities (as well as staff from all 3 French territories) 40% female 17 Pacific Islands professional staff
Director’s Office Work in 2012 • Review of strategic plan and development of indicators. • Mini-Hof meeting in June. • Support for project design and reporting. • SciCOFish administration, reporting, steering committee & communications. • Marine Sector Working Group and Oceanscape Initiative. • Expert consultation on sea cucumber. • Participation in SPC Independent External Review. • PACENET meeting and consultations with EU in Brussels. • Liaison with FFA, PIFS, WCPFC. • Missions to Solomon Islands, Kiribati. • Administration and reporting to CRGA – fisheries and oceans. • Communications efforts throughout the year.
Fisheries and Climate Change • Four-day meeting for senior fisheries officials on climate change and fisheries; • Development of 4 policy briefs on CC and fisheries; • 3 in-country workshops to develop national awareness and strategies; • Representation of SPC at various CC related events.
Information Section • Website continuously updated and improved • 3 Fisheries Newsletters in full colour • 7 policy briefs laid out • 6 Special Interest Group Bulletins produced • Digital Library updated • 2012 Fisheries Address Book • Various publications for sections • Assistance with production of national information materials (FSM, Palau, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Samoa) • Annual report lay-out • Poster for Kiribati schools

2013 Work Plan Many 2012 activities to continue EU funding a priority – extension of SciCOFish and possible new project approach for EDF11 Explore possible project with FFA and UNIDO on tuna by-catch utilisation 4-5 in-country workshops on climate change adaptation Further development of materials for schools.
FAME Strategic Plan • Current plan runs from 2010-13 • Reviewed last year and HoF agreed minor changes to objectives • Development of new indicators – for Pacific Fisheries and for FAME • Alignment with new SPC Corporate Plan • Proposed to have a series of rolling plans reviewed every 2 years • External review of Division planned for 2014
