Areas Requiring Attention in Camdeboo Local Municipality's Blue and Green Drop Reports

This report highlights the areas that need improvement in terms of the Blue Drop requirements for Camdeboo Local Municipality. It focuses on water safety planning, treatment process management, DWQ compliance, management accountability, and asset management challenges. The report identifies specific issues related to operational logbooks, equipment utilization, working conditions, filtration process, gas chlorine content measurement scale, and flow recording. The highest risk areas include operating capacity exceeding design capacity, non-compliance with R2834/17, and lack of effluent compliance monitoring. Recommendations include developing an action plan, uploading data on the Blue and Green Drop systems, and creating a Waste Water Risk Abatement Plan.

  1. Camdeboo Local Municipality 2012 Blue and Green Drop Reports

  2. Areas that requires attention in terms of the Blue Drop Requirements • Water Safety Planning • Treatment Process Management • DWQ Compliance • Management, Accountability • Asset Management

  3. Challenges related to the Water Treatment Works • The absence of an operational logbook; • The Operations and Maintenance manual compiled by DWA RRU not being utilised; • The jar testing equipment is available but not used as yet; • The working conditions of the process controllers (toilet facilities and the area for eating is not favourable to instil pride in the work place); • The filtration process can be improved noting the recorded turbidity levels of final water as well as the visible unacceptable condition of the filter media; • The gas chlorine content measurement scale was out of order and is identified as a significant risk area; • The lack of flow recording at Aberdeen boreholes is a risky operation since the municipality has no means of monitoring abstraction vs. safe yield of the aquifer.

  4. Water Services Authority:Camdeboo Local Municipality

  5. Risk trend per plant as CRR/CRRmax%

  6. Highest Risk Area • Operating capacity exceeds design capacity; • Non-compliance with R2834/17; • No effluent compliance monitoring.

  7. Recommendations to improve the DWQM & WWQM • To develop an action plan that will address all the gaps as identified in the 2012 Blue Drop and Green Drop Reports. • Upload the data on a monthly basis on the Blue Drop System and Green Drop System. • Develop the Waste Water Risk Abatement Plan.
