  4. Responsibilities Discussion, experiment: assistants Report correction / discussion, points: assistants Assistants' office hours: Wednesdays, 13:00-14:00 Experiment description / schedule / contact Exam, serious problems: Nico Bruns http://www.chemie.unibas.ch/~pcpraktikum/ user: pc; password: pc

  5. Preparation Discussion / experiment • a date: Zeitplan online • Study & understand the experiment description (script, books, internet, ...)‏ • Discussion: ask if something is unclear • The discussion is not a lecture!

  7. Experiment is completed with... ... A report • Do notcopy the experiment description! • General introduction (short)‏ • Background: max. 5 important equations • Data: raw data – data analysis error analysis – final result • Discussion: do the results make sense? no? why not? • Report has to be in english (however, we do not grade for langauge) • Copies of reports from other students (with the same mistakes) or internet resources will not be accepted • Hand report in by email to the assistants.

  8. Experiment is completed with... ... A report • Use Excel (or similar programs)! • Sample protocol can be found on the web-site • (Please note: Error calculation in this protocol is not perfect and will be covered in more detail in the error calculation homework).
