  4. What’s up with Vegas On paper it is hard to beat, but….. • Some unconfirmed rumors about the future of the Sands Convention Center • Waning interest in staying there from both exhibitors and retailers • Even with present efforts in place; lack of cycling culture • By 2009 it will be 12 years in Las Vegas!

  5. Some Options • Denver, CO • Anaheim, CA • Salt Lake City?

  6. What happen to Salt Lake City?

  7. PROS Very relaxed labor and drayage regulations Cycling friendly region, more in line with industry’s preference Large event in a small town = red carpet treatment No gambling, less distractions Bike industry may have greater impact on local advocacy Good options for OutDoor Demo Greener, cleaner and leaner Change is good, change might be welcomed CONS Salt Palace will not come close to accommodating the 3,100+ booths with current floor plan configurations Individual spaces in main exhibit area will need to be created as peninsulas 300 - 400+ booths in ancillary Convention Center spaces still needed Space growth opportunities will be very challenging Interbike’s host lodging options sometimes as far as 20 miles from Expo Increases in average air fare rates, no direct international flights Far fewer restaurants and entertainment options. Longer lines and wait times Salt Lake City, UT
