  2. Structure and Function of the Community COMMUNITY is a group of people living in the same geographic area under common laws with a sense of fellowship and a sense of belonging and obligation to the group.

  3. Community’s Influence on Socialization A community is structured to have five functions: • Production-Distribution-Consumption • Social Control • Socialization • Social Participation Mutual Support

  4. Community’s Influence on Socialization The community is a socializing agent because it is where children learn the role expectations for adults as well as for themselves.

  5. Community’s Influence on Socialization Physical factors of the community that influence children’s behavior: • Population density • Noise • House type and arrangement • Play settings

  6. Community’s Influence on Socialization Economic factors in a community play a central role in shaping the daily lives of families who live and work there.

  7. Community’s Influence on Socialization Social and personal factors influence socialization and are less tangible and more individualistic as physical and economic factors.
