  1. Tall Fescue: A Substitute of Kentucky Bluegrass Tall fescue is a species of cool-season grass native to Europe but is now commonly grown in the United States. In particular, the low-maintenance nature of turf type tall fescue seed makes it a popular alternative to other common lawn varieties. Characteristics of Tall Fescue Compared to Kentucky bluegrass, tall fescue requires less maintenance work. It can withstand low water conditions and droughts far better than alternative common grass species such as perennial ryegrass. Turf type tall fescue grass seed is a great way to add color to an area. It keeps its rich green color throughout most of the year. It’s a popular choice for school and college fields or public spaces because of its high tolerance to foot traffic. While Kentucky bluegrass is also commonly used in highly populated areas, many species of Kentucky bluegrass are not very tolerable to stress damage. Kentucky bluegrass can stop growing altogether if the temperatures get too hot. For this reason, opting for turf type tall fescue seed over Kentucky bluegrass seeds may provide better results long-term and in hotter climates. Although turf type tall fescue requires mowing more frequently than Kentucky bluegrass, it is more resistant to weeds. This leads to better results and fewer problems further down the line. Luckily, tall fescue is not commonly prone to disease and is fairly insect repellent as long as it is not overwatered.

  2. Improved Tall Fescue Seeds Turf type tall fescue seed grows into a thick lawn of grass that has a coarse texture. It often does not spread evenly and can form clumps when planted alone. New varieties of seed mix have been formulated to overcome this issue. The best turf type tall fescue seed is one that produces leaves with a finer texture and weaker rhizomes. This can help the grass to spread more evenly and avoids leaving bare patches across the lawns. The finer textured leaves also look moaesthetically pleasinging, which could be important for public areas. The best time to plant turf type tall fescue seed is between August and September, when the temperatures are warm in the daytime and cooler in the evenings. It can take just 5-10 for the seeds to germinate when the conditions are favorable. As with most other varieties of grass, turf type tall fescue grows best when there is little competition from other plant species or weeds in the area. Overall, turf type tall fescue is a great alternative to Kentucky bluegrass due to its ability to thrive during the months that other alternatives may fail to grow. It can withstand summer droughts and lack of water much better than Kentucky bluegrass, so could be a superior option to use for those busy areas that see a lot of foot traffic, but see little rainfall. turf type tall fescue seedTurf type tall fescue grass seed Resource: https://www.hrbusinesslive.com/articles/tall-fescue-a-substitute-of-kentucky-bluegrass
