Overview of responsibilities • Responsibilities • Department of Social Development (lead) • Departments of Basic Education, Health, Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Home Affairs, Correctional Services • Interdepartmental Committee on ECD • Civil Society • Stakeholders

Responsibilities of DSD • The Department of Social Development was tasked with the responsibility to lead the implementation of the NIPECD. • Registration of Partial Care facilities and ECD programmes • Funding subject to the availability of budgets • Capacity building • Inspection, Monitoring and Assessment of Partial care and ECD services • Provisioning of social grants to all deserving/qualifying children by SASSA.

  6. Responsibilities of DBE • According to the draft Integrated Programme of Action for Early Childhood Development (Draft Zero) the DBE has the following responsibilities: • Implementation of Education White Paper 5 • Grade R • Birth to four years • Development of curriculum • Grade R • Birth to four • Development of training and stimulation material • Training of ECD practitioners and payment of stipends (EPWP)
