  1. Science Fair Rules Socorro ISD District Elementary Science Fair Rules 2011-2012 Projects must be the work of the student: teacher and parents are to provide only necessary guidance, encouragement and constructive criticism. Science Fair presenters must be present at the time of judging to receive full point opportunity. Exhibit backboards must not exceed size specifications (48 inches by 48 inches) and all must stand on their own. Only the exhibit board, science report and the student are allowed to be present for judging. The following cannot be displayed for any categories: glass, liquid, living organisms, electrical equipment or hand held binders for data collection. Living organisms (animals, insects and humans) cannot be harmed in the process of the science experiments. Bloody/bodily fluid or harmful bacteria (salmonella, e-coli, etc.) cannot be used in an experiment. The student and/or campus name will not appear on the board or on student clothing. Identification number labels will be issued to participants prior to the District Science Fair. Safety and the use of common sense need to be used with all projects. Any project that is deemed a safety risk by the campus coordinators and/or district coordinators will be disqualified. I have read and agree to the rules of the Socorro ISD Elementary Science Fair. I understand that if the rules are not followed the project will be disqualified. I also understand that the judges’ decisions are final.
