  1. Example PPE Paragraph (Point, Proof, Explanation)

  2. Topic Sentence • In the Brothers Grimm’s fairy tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Snow White is presented as a typical female character through being beautiful, kind and naïve.

  3. Transition and Point 1 • First, Snow White is presented as a typical female character by being beautiful.

  4. Context and Proof 1 • In particular, this is shown when the evil queen’s mirror states, “Snow White is the fairest of them all” (2).

  5. Explanation 1 • This example proves that Snow White is ranked the most beautiful in all the kingdom, as it is by a mirror that sees all. The leading lady in most fairy tales is presented as pretty and attractive.

  6. Transition and Point 2 • Snow White is also proven to be the normal female character by being a kind person throughout her story.

  7. Context and Proof 2 • When she moves in with the dwarfs, she is kind when she exclaims, “I will help you [the dwarfs] with all of your cooking and cleaning!” (3).

  8. Explanation 2 • Snow White does this helping out of the goodness of her heart and unselfishly, proving her true kindness and leading lady manner.

  9. Transition and Point 3 • Lastly, Snow White’s actions show her naivety and stereotypical fairy tale female nature.

  10. Context and Proof 3 • For example, Snow White proves her naïve nature when she quickly accepts a gift from an “old woman” and says, “thank you so much for the apple, kind stranger” (5).

  11. Explanation 3 • Without even thinking Snow White accepts an apple from a stranger, who turns out to be the evil queen, showing her overly trusting nature. Often in fairy tales, the women are portrayed as innocent and ignorant.

  12. Concluding Sentence • In conclusion, throughout their fairy tale, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the Brothers Grimm portray Snow White as a stereotypical female character because she is pretty, nice and trusting character, shown through her actions and others’ reactions to her.
