Review of influenza activity in Idaho for FY 2014, including vital statistics, regional activity code, and laboratory surveillance. Decline in ILI visits noted; 12 influenza-associated deaths reported. CDC involved in analyzing B virus lineage.

IDAHO: Flu season is starting to wind down • State Activity Code: Regional •Vital Statistics: As of MMWR week 6, 12 influenza-associated deaths have been recorded from the following PHDs: PHD-1 (1), PHD-2 (0), PHD-3 (2), PHD-4 (0), PHD-5 (2), PHD-6 (4), PHD-7 (2), non-resident (1). All deaths were in those over the age of 50y. The first death of the 2013-2014 influenza season was reported during week 52. •Laboratory Surveillance: Between 10/1/2013 and 2/8/2014 IBL has tested 496 samples: 383 of those were positive for influenza A/H1N1pdm09, one positive for influenza A/H3, and one positive for Inf B. The lineage of the B virus is currently undetermined. The sample has been sent to CDC to have the lineage determined. •ILI frequencies: The frequency of ILI visits continue to be on the decline across the state.
