Balancing Openness and Closedness in Communication Privacy Management

Communication Privacy Management, according to Sandra Petronio's Fundamental Assumptions, involves a constant balance between openness and closedness. While both are seen as equally beneficial, expressiveness through disclosing information freely is key for promoting intimacy. However, this openness also risks vulnerability. On the other hand, protection by keeping information private can promote autonomy but may lead to isolation. Sandra Petronio's theory defines the boundaries of privacy through the concept of the Boundary Concept.
