Crime and Disorder Act 1998 • Community Safety Partnerships where established under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 which was amended by the Police and Justice Act 2006. • The 1998 Act sets out who the responsible authorities are and the various duties. Section 17 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, as amended by the Police and Justice Act 2006, requires responsible authorities to consider crime and disorder (including anti-social behaviour and other behaviour adversely affecting the local environment): and the misuse of drugs, alcohol and other substances in the exercise of all their duties, activities and decision making. • This means that in all policies, strategies and service delivery there is a need to consider the likely impact of crime and disorder. The Act also saw the establishment of the Youth Offending Service.
