  2. Category One: Resident tuition: $3300 per year • Roughly 94 % of students claim this status (source: Deborah Fontaine) • Citizenship requirements necessary to claim resident tuition status • U.S. citizen, OR • Resident alien (i.e. green card), OR • Legal alien granted indefinite status by INS

  3. Residency requirements necessary to claim resident tuition status: • Independentstudents must reside in the VI 12 months continuously, and must demonstrate that they did not move to the VI simply to go to school (i.e., they must show documents demonstrating they came here for other reasons, such as marriage or work.)
