  3. Class goals • Work on a fun dataset without spending excessive amounts of time yourself • Get more experience with different programming languaes and/or tools. • Interact with peers and learn. http://winter2014-mebi591d-kaggleclass.weebly.com/

  4. How it works • Look at project datasets (1st day) • Form groups (1st day) • Work on project (ongoing, ~10 min) • Literature review • Present data • Baseline + updates • Present 15 min final results (final)

  5. Project • Can use any languages/packages available. • 2-3 people • Different groups can do the same project.

  6. Milestone Assignments • Informal ~10 min updates on the project progress. • Can pick one person in the group to speak or can divide. • Meant to allow others in class to see what your group is doing and to get feedback.

  7. Class Requirements • Attendance • Class only meets 7 times • Miss 1 for free • Project milestone completion • Good standing with teammates
