Power converters stability MTE workshop Friday 24 September 2010
Summary • Introduction • Hands on data • Main Power Supply • Non linear elements • Pole face windings • Conclusion • On going work
1 Introduction MTE process requires good long term stability of different magnetic elements. It was observed long period fluctuation on trapping efficiency, such as 10 minutes. We will have a close look on the behavior of the Main power supply, the Pole face windings, Orbit correction dipoles and non-linear elements.
2 Hands on data List of elements : PR.MPS PR.WFNI PR.WFNP PR.WFW PR.WDNI PR.WDNP PR.WDW PR.W8L PR.DHZ15-OC PR.DHZ60-OC PR.ODE PR.OMT39 PR.OMT55 PR.XMT39 PR.XMT55
3 Conclusion MPS: 0.1 Gauss precision. No visible difference on power consumption over a long period of time. • Non linear elements: at about 10-4A precision. No visible variation over a long period of time. • PFW : at about 10-4A precision, long term stability of 25ppm, except for narrow windings.
4 On going work • Analyze low energy quadrupoles behavior. • Perform FFT comparison and correlation between powers supplies and MTE efficiency.
