  2. Scientific Measuring SI Units (System International) – A way the world can share data Length – Meter Mass/Weight – Gram Volume – Liter (mL=cm3=cc) (cm3=Length x width x height)

  4. *Draw the chart and fill in all of the missing info • (Abbreviation, Prefix & How many of the base unit)

Metric Conversions • *Question: 50 km = ______ cm • *Use the conversion box you just drew. • Start with you finger in the box of your first unit (50 km) • Move your finger to the unit you are converting to. • Count the spaces and Note the direction in which you moved (Remember to count the base unit too!) • Move the decimal point the same number of spaces & in the same direction as you moved your finger. • *Answer: 50 km = 5 000 000 cm • Try these on your own: • 1m = ________km • 6g = ________ mg • 41 cm = ______ mm • 600 cL= _____ hL

  11. 3. Experiment – Exact directions on how to replicate your procedure. • Include all information about controlling variables! • Set up graphs and data tables to record results. • Perform experiment & Record Results

  12. 4. Results & Conclusion – A written expression of the conclusions you can draw from your experiment. • Paragraph form • Start by summarizing the experiment. (We tested _____ in this experiment by …) • Accept or Reject your hypothesis ( I have to ________ my hypothesis because… ) • Use recorded data to support your conclusions. • Tell what could have been done differently for more reliable results.

  15. *Section 2 is scientific method (which we have already covered) • *Section 3 – is SI Units (which we already covered), but you need the following definitions to add to it • Types of information • Qualitative – Tells an observable quality of a thing (example a red shirt) • Quantitative – Tells numerical data (quantity) of something (example 15 shirts)
