Stories in StoneDavid Williams will lead a 1.5-mile-long walk to discover fossils as large as cinnamon rolls, rock used by the Romans to build the Coliseum, and stones ranging from 3.5-billion to 120,000-years-old Hungry Planet Event at the Burke Museum The Burke Museum presents Hungry Planet: What the World Eats, a traveling exhibit that provides a place to gather and discuss 21st century food issues and ideas.

  3. Life and Times of Washington State Life and Times of Washington State is a hands-on adventure that begins 545 million years ago. This exhibit is a passport through the evolution of our state's geology, biology, and archaeology. 2012 International Conservation Photography Awards The Burke will once again present the award-winners of this biennial juried competition that was initiated in 1997 by acclaimed local nature photographer, Art Wolfe. For the first time, the Burke and ICPA will also collaborate to create a traveling exhibit which will include the 25 first place winners.

  4. Lewis & Clark at Fort Clatsop Study the adventures of Lewis and Clark; learn about the evidence of their expedition found at Fort Clatsop National memorial. Included are several books, visual aids, and replica artifacts such as a powder horn, folk harp, candle mold, flint, and steel. Day of the Dead One of Mexico's most important festivals is the theme of this collection. It includes artifacts, several craft samples, maps, posters, books, recipes, and classroom activity suggestions in a comprehensive teacher packet.
