  2. 2 forms to write linear equations. 1. Slope-intercept form. y = mx + b m = slope b= y-intercept 2. Point-slope form. or y = m(x – x1) + y1

  3. Write an equation in slope-intercept form. Slope = 2; b= -5 y = mx + b y = x 2 -5 Slope = 3; b= 4 y = mx + b y = x 3 + 4

  4. Write an equation in slope-intercept form. Slope = 4; b= -1 y = mx + b y = x 4 -1 Write an equation in Point-slope form. Slope = 2 and the line goes through (5,7) y = m(x – x1) + y1 y = (x – ) 2 5 + 7
