Our Purpose (Introduction)   We pick the topic is because each of our group members has an experience about their family illness and had solved and see the family members go through the hardness in life. So we don't want anyone pass their life on easily but had to care about themselves as well as others. Ngoc: My aunt die because of breast cancer. I don't want to see that in anybody in this campus have breast cancer in the next ten years. Jose: The reason why I picked cancer is because one of my friends has skin cancer. Now i want to learn more about cancer so i won't get like my friend does.

  3.             Colon Cancer Colon cancer is a common type of malignancy (cancer) in which there is uncontrolled growth of the cells that line the inside of the colon or rectum. Colon cancer is also called colorectal cancer.  Prevention 1. Maintain a healthy weight    2. Balance diet    3. Don't smoke    4. Reduce radiation exposure JOKES TIME!!! :) A friend said that when his father woke up from his colon cancer surgery (this was 20 years ago) he groggily asked the nurse: "Guess what I am now? "A semi-colon!"

  4. Breast cancer a malignant tumor that starts from cells of the breast. A malignant tumor is a group of cancer cells that may grow into (invade) surrounding tissues or spread (metastasize) to distant areas of the body. About 75% of women get breast cancer. Breast cancer is the leading causes of death from 15-50 years old. Prevention: Changing lifestyle or eating habits. Avoiding things known to cause cancer. Taking medicines to treat precancerous condition or to keep cancer from starting. Exercise daily           Breast Cancer

  5. Lung Cancer Lung Cancer is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the lung. Lung cancer may causes number of symptoms. For example, a cough is one of the common one, another symptoms is chest,shoulder,or back pain.  What cause lung cancer? Tobacco is the leading of causing cancer, more than 85% of lung cancer are cause by smoking or secondhand smoke.Certain occupations, such as mining and farming, expose people to fumes, radioactive dust, or other chemicals that may be harmful. Prevention To prevent lung cancer is avoiding any chemical product and smoking tobacco. 

  6. Bladder Cancer Bladder cancer is the cancer that forms in the tissues of the bladder. The bladder is an organ that stores urine. The majority of bladder cancers are transitional cell carcinomas - the cancer starts in cells of the inner-lining of the bladder. Prevention:Avoiding exposure to carcinogenic chemicals (people who work with hair dye, paint, metal, leather and rubber are at increased risk); increasing physical activity, drinking plenty of fluids and not smoking. Facts: About 610 Illinoisans are expected to die of bladder cancer in 2008. According to the Illinois State Cancer Registry, in 2008, about 2,950 new cases of bladder cancer will be diagnosed in Illinois.       JOKE TIMES!!! :)

  7. Skin Cancer Skin cancer is a disease in which skin cells lose the ability to divide and grow normally.  Skin cancers are more common in people with light-colored skin, hair, and eyes. Having a family history of melanoma increases the risk of developing this cancer.  Nonmelanoma skin cancers are more common after age 40.  Most skin cancers occur on areas of the skin that are regularly exposed to sunlight or other ultraviolet radiation. This is considered the primary cause of all skin cancers Prevention   Always wear sun screen with SPF 15 or higher. Avoid going outdoors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  8.          JOKE TIMES!!! :) Prostate Cancer is the form of cancer that develops in prostate,a gland in male body reproductive system.  Facts There are over 2 million American men currently living with prostate cancer.  Prevention: Eat more low-fat, high-fiber foods, or foods with omega-3 fatty acids, such as: Soy products, like tofu and soy beans. Tomatoes and foods that contain tomato sauce. Vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage. Fish, like salmon, albacore tuna, and sardines. Walnuts and flax seed, and their oils. Drink red wine or green tea.
