In thisregionlivedprehistoric people, Celts and Romans too. • After the Roman empire, Huns, Goths, Lombards, Avars, Franks and Slavssettledhere. • Finally, in the early 10th centuryArpad’sHungarianscrossed the Danube and took possession of the region. • In the 11th to 12th centuries, lands passedfrom the king to the Church and laterweretheygiven to eminentpersonages, as a reward for loyal services.

  9. Today… • … many industries opened in Ajka. The town has been modernised and a lot of new stores have been built. • … tourist activity is being developped. There are a lot of archeological sites and beautiful natural places.

  12. Hungarian or Magyar cuisine • The Hungarian cuisine uses a large variety of cheeses but the most common are túró (fresh quark cheese), cream cheeses, juhturó, Emmentaler, Edam and the Hungarian cheese Trappista.

  13. The traditional Hungarian dishes are primarily based on meats, seasonal vegetables, fruits, fresh bread, cheeses and honey. • Meat stews, casseroles, steaks, roasted pork, beef, poultry, lamb, the Hungarian sausages and winter salami are a major part of Hungarian cuisine.

  14. Teenagers in Ajka • Life in Ajka isn’t only made of traditional music and food. • There are several party places in town, among them the Oázis club. There it’s possible to play bowling, to swim and to dance. • Young people like sport too. There are a lot of sports grounds to play basketball, handball football… • There are some festivals too. There we can listen to hungarian bands like: Edda, Kárpátia, Tankcsapda, Delta…

  15. Beer • The best known Hungarian beer brand in Europe is the Dreher, produced in the Dreher Brewery located in Budapest. • Also some of the beers from the brand Heineken are produced by Heineken Hungary wich has breweries in Sopron and Martfu.
