Parties and Interest Groups in the US • Republican and Democratic party have been the major political parties in the US. • The democratic party has the majority of seats in the House of Representatives. • The Republican Party has most of the Senate seats.1 • Interest groups advocate for the citizens. • Strong interest groups can undermine progressive decisions made by the government.2 1 Torcuato, Di Tella.
