  1. Why minimalism had replaced opulence these days The concept of interior design is in a constant state of flux as trends come and go and sensibilities around the globe evolve. What is in today may be considered redundant tomorrow and that is the way with fashion trends across sectors. However, interior design and modern luxury interior design trends tend to move slowly but surely. This tells us one thing – that even though design trends may hold strong and true for millennia, they can and will eventually change and it is important you understand this shift when it does, especially if you are trying to build the interiors of your house to reflect a certain charm or appeal. Let’s take the example of luxury interior design and how it has radically evolved and morphed, a process that may have taken a long time to happen but is here to stay. Think of the phrase ‘luxury interiors’ and the first thing you think of is opulence. It immediately stirs memories of lavish palaces and manors, large chandeliers, ornate decorative pieces, huge fireplaces, plush rugs, rolling banisters, gorgeous wooden stairways, heavy drapes, king-sized beds, and largely – dark and deep colours that are meant to inspire awe and majesty. This is the typical image of luxury, one that has been bolstered and reinforced by interiors of actual palaces and five-star hotels around the world. But, as we all know, this is the face of old luxury. Modern luxury is more akin to modern minimalist interior design and with good reason. The concept of less is more has captured everyone’s imagination. Those who wish to create a truly premium experience with their interiors, or for that matter, with any aspect of their life, are now well aware that minimalism is the way to go. When you truly sit at the top of the mountain, you don’t need to try too hard to reinforce just how much you have. It is not surprising that so many celebrity homes these days are bare, rustic, Spartan, and almost lacking in nature. Few furniture pieces, bare walls, bare floors, and clean spaces, are all popular elements that you will likely come across at any A-lister’s place. More and more people are realizing the merit of having fewer but more meaningful pieces in your homes. If you truly wish to create a look of extreme opulence while also keeping in line with modern rustic interior design norms, look for fewer but expensive furniture pieces. Rather than buying anything mass-produced, seek for classic antique objects that are maybe uncommon and have a fascinating history, especially in the form of a unique tale. These are significantly more valuable than any ultra-luxe couch designed for those who pretend to be actually wealthy. Look for such unique things, make a place for them in your house, and genuinely personalise them. Similarly, you need to furnish your homes with minimal decorative pieces that all have an artistic angle to it. They should vibe with the theme you are trying to build and your taste should reflect your own capabilities. www.spayci.com
